Meet Elaine Braverman, 58, Elmhurst South
What do you do when you are off the mat?
After work, I like to spend time with my family and friends. I love to listen to live music and I have recently started to enjoy podcasts.
What brought you to Ahimsa for the first time?
An injury to my neck.
What's your favorite thing about this studio?
The teachers and the warm yoga community.
What’s your favorite type of yoga class?
I like the meditative flow of vinyasa and the way it can feel soft and strong at the same time.
What is your advice for someone coming to yoga for the very first time?
Be patient and prepared to become a lot more flexible.
What has your practice given you?
More flexibility and strength and stability and ease on and off the mat.

I'm a bit of a Michael Franti groupie. I have seen him in concert about 15 times in over 5 different cities.
What 3 words would a good friend use to describe you?
Loyal, Compassionate, Fun
What's your guilty pleasures?
I love to get a massage at a spa.
Have you made any changes in your life as a result of your practice?
It took a few years to for my yoga practice to impact my life. To avoid getting involved in gossip and pettiness at work, I often remind myself to just focus on what's on my mat. Also, learning to breathe through different situations.
