Ahimsa Elmhurst Student Spotlight: Letty Luna
Meet Letty Luna, 39, Elmhurst North
What do you do when you are off the mat? I'm a wife, fur mommy and a nanny. I’m always on the go. When not on my mat you’ll find me at work, concerts, drum circles, volunteering, reading, meditating, shopping, and spending time with my friends and family.
What brought you to Ahimsa for the first time?
Planting seeds meditation for the Spring Equinox
What's your favorite thing about this studio?
I love the warm friendly atmosphere and the variety of talented and kind teachers.
What is your favorite type of yoga class (hatha, yin, vinyasa, etc.) and why?
Hatha because there’s movement but not too much that I feel overwhelmed and restorative because sometimes my body needs the longer deeper stretches.
What is your advice for someone coming to yoga for the very first time?
Come in with an open mind and leave all expectations behind.
What has your practice given you?
It has given me strength, mind-body awareness, a great outlet for releasing stress and relaxing.
What is your favorite pose?
Star pose- it makes me feel so happy.
What is your least favorite pose?
Seated forward fold- it’s uncomfortable to me and it seems like I can’t lengthen enough to fold nicely- lol
Tell us something unusual about yourself.
I’m shy until I get to know you and then I become a social butterfly.
What 3 words would a good friend use to describe you?
Strong, loyal, optimistic
What's your guilty pleasures?
Outlander, pizza and dessert
Have you made any changes in your life as a result of your practice?
Yes, thanks to yoga I meditate on a regular basis.
If you were having a dinner party and could invite anyone you wanted, who would they be?
Along with my four bestest friends I’d love to invite Amma the ‘hugging saint’. She has such a warm, kind and loving energy about her.
